Adult Learners Week!

The aim of Adult learners week was to celebrate learners and raise the profile of learning in our area. Centres across the district were involved in promoting their courses and facilities by holding a range of events, here are just an example of the events held:
The Winners!
AWARDS - Four of our learners have been successful in gaining Adult Learner Awards this year and were presented with their Awards at the Regional Ceremony at Leeds Town Hall on 20 May 2008.
John Redford has been chosen as Wakefield Adult Education Service learner of the year. He is attending the Homebuilder course at Manygates.
Caroline Simpson, who is currently studying CLAiT at Chesneys Centre and already achieved English and Maths and Anatomy and Physiology qualifications, has progressed on to Wakefield College to take a pre-nursing course, as she wants to be a paramedic. Caroline has been awarded the Wakefield College Adult Learner Award.
John Banks has won the Open College Network OCN Award. John is studying Art at Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre.
Nicky Britton has been awarded the "Make Your Mark" award, a government sponsored award for the under 30s successful in enterprise/business. Nicky attends the Homebuilder course at Manygates.

Sharing the Success of Family Learning
The Family Learning team are currently promoting the Computers Don't Byte course, which is running in a number of schools across the district. The aim is to raise parental awareness of how to keep children safe on-line, in line with DCSF directives.
