VOX moves into Chesneys Centre
VOX is the Community Empowerment Network (CEN) for the Wakefield District. They have hundreds of members made up of community and voluntary groups throughout the local area and work to give these groups a united voice to influence the way the District is run. They have recently moved their base to Chesneys Centre, Regent Street, Featherstone.
VOX exists as a way of linking local community and voluntary sectors with the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). In Wakefield our LSP is called the Wakefield District Partnership. VOX's job is to bring together a wide range of organisations, from the numerous small community groups to the large voluntary agencies within the District, and to provide all sections of the community with information from the Wakefield District Partnership. They also provide ways in which people can get realistically involved in discussing, planning and acting to improve service delivery, as the people best able to judge these services are the people that use them every day.

Fun in Family Learning Week
Members of the family learning team promoted family learning by visiting schools and children's centres, giving out leaflets and family activity booklets and talking to parents.
Averil Birch attended an event at Chequerfield Infants School where parents enjoyed an afternoon of activities in the classroom with their children. The parents were keen to know more about family learning and asked lots of questions in an informal coffee session.
Christine Calvert supported Children's Centres in celebrating family learning week and parents were given tours of the centres, joined in the gluing and sticking and received information about forthcoming family learning courses.
Children in Need
Chesneys Centre, Regent Street, Featherstone is to play host to a 'Children in Need' event on Wednesday 14th November. There will be plenty going on with a table-top sale, raffles, stalls, tombola and many more.
