Childcare
Help with the costs of childcare may be available through a number of different sources. A downloadable leaflet providing more information for learners will be available here soon.
Adult Learners Grant (ALG)
The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is a means tested allowance of up to £30 per week to adults resident in England studying full time for a first full level 2 or first full level 3 qualification. It's open to everyone aged 19 or over. Please see the Adult Learners Grant page for more information.
More information on help with the costs of learning for adults is also available online through the Direct.gov web site.

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of up to £30 per week may be available for learners aged 16-18, with a household income of less than £30,810 and enrolled on a full-time vocational course. Some of our courses may be classed as full-time, for example, if a learner is taking the OCR National Certificate or Diploma in Health & Social Care together with a literacy/numeracy class. Work placement hours do not count towards the 12 hours per week requirement for EMA. More information is available online at www.dfes.gov.uk/financialhelp/ema/.

Hardship Fund
Learners on a low income may be eligible for help with costs associated with a course such as fees, materials, travel, childcare, etc., through our hardship fund. Proof of income will be required.
