Adult Education classes have being established for a long period at the school. Since the new building was completed these have been organised for a single evening, Wednesday.
Crofton High School is an 11-16 Comprehensive school with 1150 pupils on role. The school draws the majority of its pupils from the local villages of Sharlston, Crofton and Walton. However over the past decade the school has become increasingly popular and it now attracts pupils drawn from across the Wakefield District, with the greatest numbers coming from the villages of Ackworth, Havercroft, Ryhill and South Hiendley.
Crofton High School is the Wakefield LEA Centre for secondary age pupils with a Visual Impairment. Such work with disadvantaged pupils is well recognised and considered as a strength of the school. In previous years a Braille course has been successfully run at the Centre.
In 2004 the school submitted a bid to become a Specialist School in Mathematics and Computing. The school has identified the need to develop and widen its role within the community it serves and the role of the Adult and Community Education Service provides a key aspect for further development within our proposals.
