Wakefield Adult and Community Education Service

Aims & objectives

The Adult and Community Education Service works with community partners, schools and employers to provide a wide range of part-time learning opportunities primarily for people aged 19 and over.

There is a strong programme of life-enriching learning activities, which take place in day and evening centres.

In addition a considerable amount of provision is targeted towards learners who are unemployed, unwaged, and part-time or low-waged workers, as well as people with low qualifications and excluded groups. Its purpose is to increased people's life-chances and choices within the context of the changing economy of the district.

The ethos of the service is an inclusive one in which efforts are made to ensure equality of access and success.
